Whittingham out for three months with ruptured ankle ligaments

Injury News

It was confirmed in a scan last night that Peter Whittingham suffered ruptured ankle ligaments in the game against Crystal Palace.

The injury does not require surgery but will force the midfield playmaker out of the team for up to three months.

Ledley out for a month after finger surgery

Joe Ledley meanwhile will also be out for a month after dislocating his finger in the same game against Palace on Saturday.

Ledley received treatment during the game, but returned to the action to score a 52nd minute winner for the Bluebirds, but it appears to be worse than first thought.

The Cardiff man will have surgery on the finger today and hopefully return to action in a month.

The news that both Whittingham and Ledley will join Ross McCormack, Jay Bothroyd, Riccy Scimeca and Tony Capaldi on the sidelines will test the thin squad yet again.

More important is the fact City will almost certainly be without two very influential midfield players for the return to the Liberty on the 30th November.

The injury to Ledley also means he will miss Wales’ friendly against Denmark on Wednesday, allowing the opportunity for former Bluebird Aaron Ramsey to claim his first senior cap.
